Q: What happens during a session?
A: Each session is a one-on-one conversation where we talk through your situation in detail. I’ll ask a few questions, share perspective from both a coach and parent lens, and help you build a plan you can put into action right away.
Over the years, I’ve sat down with countless parents — as a coach helping families navigate tough moments, and as a parent walking through them myself. These sessions reflect those same honest, real conversations that bring clarity, calm, and direction when emotions are high and answers aren’t clear.
Q: What kinds of challenges do you help with?
A: I help parents navigate the real-life situations that come with raising an athlete, things like playing-time frustrations, communication breakdowns with coaches, team dynamics, burnout, and keeping perspective when competition gets intense.
If it’s part of the youth sports experience, we can talk about it. The goal is always the same: to help you find clarity, calm, and practical steps that strengthen both your child’s growth and your relationship with them.
Q: Do I need to prepare anything before my session?
A: No preparation is needed. Just come ready to share the details of your situation and what’s been weighing on you as a parent. I’ll guide the conversation and help you clarify what’s happening, why it matters, and what steps to take next.
Q: Can both parents join the session?
A: Absolutely. In fact, it’s often helpful when both parents participate. Hearing different perspectives can create better understanding and ensure everyone feels aligned in supporting your athlete’s growth.
Q: Is this only for certain sports?
A: Not at all. These sessions are designed for parents of athletes in any sport. The challenges of communication, balance, and perspective are universal and includes team and individual sports. The principles we discuss apply to every competitive environment.
Q: Is this like therapy or counseling?
A: No — these sessions aren’t therapy. They’re practical, solution-focused conversations built on real coaching experience and parental insight. You’ll leave with perspective and clear, actionable steps and not diagnoses.
Q: Is everything we discuss confidential?
A: Absolutely. What we talk about stays between us. These sessions are built on trust, honesty, and respect which are the same values we want to model for our athletes.
Q: Can you speak to our parent group or club?
A: Yes. I regularly speak to teams, schools, and parent groups about healthy sports parenting, communication, and building stronger team culture. Whether it’s a pre-season meeting, workshop, or community event, I can tailor a session to fit your program’s needs.
